Add Photo Upload Fields to PDF Forms

A pasted photo is a one-time edit. A photo upload field is a reusable template region where a different photo can be supplied for each completed record. That distinction matters for applicant packets, badge forms, membership records, student forms, patient intake, and HR workflows.

DullyPDF image helpers let the template preserve the photo region while the actual image changes by record or editing session.

Photo fields use the same image helper model as other DullyPDF image outputs. The field stores placement metadata, exposes PNG/JPEG upload controls, previews the selected image, and renders it into the completed PDF.

Adobe lists Image Field as a PDF form component in Acrobat.¹ DullyPDF implements the template-output version of that need: the final PDF should display the selected photo reliably as page content.

Photos vary. A square headshot, a wide camera image, and a portrait crop will not behave the same inside one field box. Test realistic source images before publishing the template, and check the final PDF for cropping, stretching, and print quality.

If the photo must meet a formal ID, badge, or credential standard, define the image requirements outside the PDF template too. DullyPDF places and renders the photo; it does not validate passport-photo or credential-photo rules.

Photos can expose identities and sensitive context more quickly than text fields. Only collect photo content that the document actually needs, and make sure storage, sharing, and retention rules match the workflow.

For regulated or high-risk records, validate the operational controls before making a photo-enabled template public or widely shared.

Open the existing file, review detection, rename ambiguous fields, confirm checkbox and radio behavior, and save the template only after the field list matches the way the document is used in practice.
